Jim Pavelec is a renowned artist known for his exceptional talent in the realms of fantasy, horror, and occult illustration. Born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1972 Jim was enamored with drawing from a very young age when he discovered comic strips and later comic books.

Jim attended college at Washington University in St. Louis, which was a terrible experience from an art education perspective. Later he attended the Watts’ Atelier in San Diego, which opened his eyes to the discipline required to master the technical aspects of picture making. From there, Jim honed his skills and developed a distinctive style that continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Jim’s work often features intricate details, vivid colors, and a profound sense of imagination, making it instantly recognizable within the genre.

Over the years, Jim became a prominent figure in the world of fantasy art, contributing illustrations to numerous books, role-playing games, and collectible card games. His portfolio includes collaborations with major publishers like Wizards of the Coast, Games Workshop, and Dark Horse comics, solidifying his reputation as an illustrator of exceptional talent.

After a long stint in illustration, Jim decided to pursue fine art and tackle a multi-year project illustrating the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia, which he completed in 2022.
